UNIS and AHOF Debut Concept Review
Written by: Chloe Natividad and Linka Oseña

WHAT WE TALKIN’ ABOUT?
HELLOOOO, so you might notice that we have two authors on this review and the reason for it was because Linka is a certified FOHA (AHOF’s fandom name) and Chloe is more of an EverAfter (fandom name of UNIS). We have both decided that since these groups are under the same agency, why not write about them on the same blog? So yeah, you could join the two of us as we babble and review about our favorite K-pop groups and if you still don’t know UNIS or AHOF, we hope that this would be a way to make you stan them!

BEFORE WE GET STARTED (DISCLAIMER)
Do note that the blog will only cover UNIS and AHOF’s DEBUT CONCEPT and some key details about the groups. The latest songs and topics about the group will not be talked about. Think of this blog as an introductory post about them and a kick-starter before stanning them if you still haven’t heard them.

ABOUT UNIS and AHOF
As mentioned, both groups are under the same company. They are managed by F\&F Entertainment (에프앤에프 엔터테인먼트), an entertainment agency and record label from South Korea founded by Choi Jae Woo in the year 2022 of November.

Additionally, UNIS and AHOF were both formed by their respective survival shows which were open globally, so contestants did come from different countries. In line with this, both groups have a multinational line up and are considered as a Global K-pop Group.

GETTING TO KNOW THEM IMNIDA!
In this section, UNIS and AHOF will have a separate section, and we will discuss their first debut album, core concept, track list, and identity. So buckle up folks! We ‘bout to do some (more) talking.

UNIS - The 1st Mini Album ‘WE UNIS’

‘We UNIS’ Concept Photo (Story Ver.1)

From the phrase “U\&I Story”, meaning the group and its fans will continue writing their story together, the acronym “UNIS” was formed. UNIS were F\&F Entertainment’s first launched girl group through a survival show called ‘Universe Ticket’. The following winners that have also become the members of this girl group are: Hyeonju (현주) the leader, Nana (나나), Gehlee (젤리), Kotoko (코토코), Yunha (윤하), Elisia (엘리시아), Yoona (오윤아), and Seowon (서원) the “maknae” or the youngest member.

Album Design

Their first debut mini album “We UNIS” was released on March 27, 2024, with “Superwoman” as its title track. The physical album has two variations: START ver. (beige) and STORY ver. (the pink one) to which they can be distinguished through its different colors (very common to K-pop albums btw).

Core Debut Concept

From their teasers, it kinda looks like a dark dune mysterious theme like the girls are lost to some place.

Surprisingly, UNIS have leaned to a pinky whimsical dune and futuristic bubblegum pop concept making their theme look like a straight from a fairy-tale book. It does have these cutesy vibes but if you listened to the album’s tracks, it’s not all cute since some of their songs have very strong and low vocalization parts making the concept and their songs more varied.

For a more sneak peek through their concept, the following images above are the member’s solo concept photos. You could actually see the two theme of their concept which is dune and futuristic. Very experimental concept, indeed! To add, these concept photos are the photocards you might get when you are planning to buy the physical album.

The Album’s Tracklist

  1. SUPERWOMAN - “It has the message that anyone can become a superwoman if they want. You can see UNIS’ loveliness and confidence through the song.”, this was Seowon’s introduction on their title track during their episode on Weekly Idol. This was literally the meaning and vibes of the song following its Afrobeats and vocals that are relaxing but strong at the same time.

  2. Butterfly’s Dream - This medium tempo pop song is a heart fluttering and a “falling in love for someone” song. Comparing themselves to a butterfly, their attraction to someone makes them fly towards them. Hence, UNIS’ cutesy side definitely shows on this song.

  3. Whatchu Need - A pop song with full English lyrics that emphasizes the charm of every member of UNIS. It is very upbeat, full of confidence, and also has the message of how fresh (as a rookie girl group) and diverse the group is. It’s like they say straight to your face that “Look at us, we got Whatchu Need here!"

  4. Dopamine(UNIS ver.) - Imagine it as a song where your dopamine gets higher, and suddenly you get so hyper and energized. It describes UNIS’ exploding energy whenever they are on stage. The song contains elements of rough guitar sounds, fast drum beats, and powerful synths.

  5. Dream of girls(UNIS ver.) - The lyrics of this song are very melancholic. I can describe it as those “will my dreams ever come true?” songs and although fast beat, the oriental instruments did help to make you feel the overwhelming emotion of yearning for something unattainable (like your dreams in life).

How the Debut Establishes UNIS’ Identity

“It’s full of different colors for the eight of us”

The creative concept UNIS have showcased many sides and colors of the girl group. They have established an identity where they are not limited to one concept serving as testament in which they shouldn’t be underestimated just because they came from a small and somewhat new established agency. Their debut album did well in making the first impression for the group and frankly, I am definitely impressed.

And that’s that, I hope I did well in introducing UNIS to you! The next section will tackle about their sibling boy group AHOF. I am a hundred percent sure that Linka will introduce them properly. Have fun!!

AHOF - “Who We Are” (1st Mini Album)

Concept Photo 1 - “Who We Are" Album

AHOF (All-time Hall of Famer), is the first boy group launched by F\&F Entertainment through SBS’s survival show 'Universe League'. The final winning contestants were JL, Steven, Shuaibo, Chih En, Jeongwoo, Juwon, Daisuke from Team Rhythm, Woongki from Team Beat, and Han from Team Groove.

Together they officially debut a mini album “WHO WE ARE”, released on July 1, 2025, with Rendezvous” as the title track.

Core Debut Concept

Rendezvous Official MV

The concept of “WHO WE ARE” centers on youth, identity, imperfections in starting a powerful journey. The album tells the story of nine boys chasing together their dreams. This is literally shown through their concept teasers, album cover and music video of a running man.

Explained that AHOF, which connects with the meaning of the group name "A Hope"

Album Photobook Design

A cool fact about this album is the sleeve, the logo creates an illusion of rotating as you pull the sleeve off. Another is when you rotate the album slightly to the right, you’ll see “9”, emphasizing the meaning of AHOF together as 9 members.

Key Visual Elements

The overall mood of their style reinforces the idea that AHOF represents energy in youths at the beginning of their path.

Album Tracklist:

How the Debut Establishes AHOF’s Identity

AHOF presents themselves as a group that is still growing, that is still starting. With this, they conveyed their identity clearly through their 1st mini album debut, focusing on the beginning, the process, and the future ahead. The growth, trust, and joy throughout their journey is the example AHOF wants us to see through their album.

And that’s my overall review. As a FOHA, I’m grateful to make this content review not only to share the album, but also to give some insights on the lessons we can get from their music.
I hope this article helped you understand more about UNIS and AHOF’s 1st albums, with the help of my friend Chloe!
